Fernand (Pete) LaPerle, 77, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Red Rock Care and Rehab Center in Cottonwood, Arizona. He was born May 9, 1932, in Walden Heights, Vermont, the son of Philip and Irene LaPerle. He attended school in Walden and came to Randolph Center when his family purchased the "Ball" farm. He worked on the family farm and then for John Cooley in Randolph Center before entering the Army in 1954. He served in Berlin, Germany and was discharged in March of 1956. He was married to Elinor Hutchinson in 1954. He worked for Richmond Camp in East Randolph and the Town of Brookfield. He moved to Cottonwood, Ariz. to retire and remarried Gail Jackson, (later divorced). He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. and enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage. Survivors include his son Stuart laPerle of Coppell, Texas, his daughter Suzanne (LaPerle) Dudek of Brookfield Vt., daughter Melisa Romanowski of Ariz., four sisters; Joanne Aleksiewicz of Cottonwood, Vivian Schlagel of Cottonwood, Beatrice Griswold of Keene NH, and Pauline Hill of Winchester, Va.; two brothers: John LaPerle of Pownal, Vt. and Norbert LaPerle of Bradford, Vt. five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Leonard and Raymond. Memorial services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vt. at a later date.
