Florence Ida Schlotfeld, known as Flo, went to be home with her Lord on Wed. Oct. 15, 2014 at the Veterans Hospice, in Prescott, AZ. Florence was born on March 12, 1924 in Sidney, Nebr. to Floyd and Marie Glassburn. Florence served in the U.S. Army with an honorable discharge. On Sept. 18 1945 Florence married the love of her life, Gene Schlotfeld and they had a son Rodney. Flo loved to travel & visit with friends and family. She was a humorous lady and enjoyed having a good time. In 1971 Florence and Gene relocated to Lake Montezuma, AZ. and opened up the first Hardware/Snack bar & Gas ($.30 per gal) near the Montezuma Well. A lot of locals came by to enjoy a $.10 cup coffee and chat with Flo & Gene. When Gene passed, in 1991, she tried her best to live life to the fullest. She traveled some with her friend Gloria and even took a motorcycle ride with Gloria's son; she had a blast. Florence is survived by her only son Rodney, his wife Karen, two grand children Tina (husband Guy) and Rod as well as six great grand children Michael, Marissa, Tyler, Jeremy, Emmitt and Jaden and her pet poodle Gigi. Private services with full military honors were held. We wish to thank the caregivers at the Veteran's Hospice unit; Flo's last days were sweeter because of you.
