G Tom Henry, of Cottonwood, Arizona passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 24, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born in Globe, Arizona to the late George T Henry and Margerite Tomlin.
He is survived by his children, daughter Vicki Henry Rawlinson, sons, Terry Henry and Todd Henry. Grandchildren, Ryan Rawlinson, Megan Rawlinson, Angelica Henry, Brianna Henry, and Jennifer Grogan. He also had 3 very loved nephews and 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sister, Sue King, beloved wife Emma Jean Henry, and his parents.
Tom was a graduate of Globe High School and received his teaching degree at Arizona State College (NAU), and his Master of Arts degree at Northern Arizona University. He began teaching in Stockton California before being hired at Mingus Union High School in 1959 to teach and coach. He was a beloved and successful basketball coach for many years at MUHS. He retired from teaching in 1987 and began volunteering with CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocate Program in which he further assisted to improve the quality of life for young people in the Verde Valley. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, yard sales, boating, waterskiing, gun shows, his 1947 Willys Jeep, his numerous friendships, his past students he befriended, home cooked meals, and improving the lives of others.
Services will be held at Westcott’s Funeral Home on February 1, 2025 at 11:00 am. 1013 E Mingus Ave Cottonwood, AZ 86326. (928) 634-9566
A celebration of life will follow at Clark Memorial Clubhouse 19 N 9th St Clarkdale, AZ 86324.
