Gary John Davis, of Cathedral City, CA passed away January 21, 2013 in Cottonwood at the age of 61. He was born August 23, 1951 in Seattle, WA to Richard and Gladys Davis. Gary grew up in Sitka, AK and worked in the family business, Totem Electric. He attended the University of Hawaii in Hilo and Chico State University in California. While attending Chico State, Gary met Laurie Hyland and they were married in 1974. They moved to Sitka, AK where they had their three children. For many years Gary worked as a hotel manager in Washington State, Palm Springs, CA, Park City, UT and Sedona, AZ. While in Sedona Gary managed Poco Diablo Resort, the Vilas of Sedona and the Best Western Inn of Sedona. Gary served as a Sedona City Councilman from 1994 1998. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Sedona Boys and Girls Club, Rotary Club of Sedona Red Rocks, The Verde Valley Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Sedona Adult Community Center and was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. At the time of his death Gary and Laurie lived in Cathedral City, CA. Gary was a devoted husband, father and Papa. He was an inspiration to his family, friends and many others. Though in declining health over recent years he never let his own challenges affect his positive attitude toward life. Gary is survived by his wife Laurie of 38 years. Daughters, Jennifer Davis (Josh), Kimberly Henderson (Adam) and son Thomas Davis (Kamailelani) of Cottonwood, his brother Rick Davis of Albuquerque, NM and five grandchildren, Taylor and Dillon Davis, Ciara and Kristianna McIver and Zane Henderson.
