George W. (Bill) Colton of Cottonwood passed away in his sleep Saturday surrounded by his family. He was born in Easton, PA June 5th 1925 to George William and Ruah Hollister (Fenn) Colton. Bill served with the 104th Infantry Division during WWII and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Afterwards he received a degree in geology from Yale University. He worked 28 years for the USGS and 16 years with the Arkansas Geological Commission. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, William James. He and Jane Miskimen were married on April 9th, 1952 in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Jane, and by his 11 children: Jim (Jan), Cottage Grove OR; Ted (Becky), Flagstaff AZ; Doug, Cottonwood AZ; Jenny Miller (Kurt), El Paso TX; Kathy (Rusty) Branscum, Batesville AR; Matt, Flagstaff AZ; Charley (Carla), Imperial NE; Tom (Debby), Rialto CA; Karla Rollins (Jon), Rancho Cucamonga CA; Dwight (Heather), San Jose CA; and Holly Seeders (Mike), Glendale AZ; 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Edward (Merna) Colton and Buster (Kaye) Colton. He was a loving, loyal and strong man who will be greatly missed by his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S.
