George "Red" Mathews, 98, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2006; he was born on May 19, 1908 to George W. and Elizabeth B. (Edwards) Mathews in Laramie, Wyoming. He was a member of the Masonic Order. Red always had a great story to tell, and he will be best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. His most memorable times were those spent working for the Rockefeller family at the JY Ranch, located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Red enjoying breaking horses, tooling leather, bowling and playing cards. Red is 15 years preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Belle Mathews. He leaves behind his "adopted" son and daughter, Paul and Deborah Wilkins; and his very dear friends, Les and Chris Allison of Montana, Paul and Diane Joens, Jim and Patty Scott, Ray and Betty Goff, and Marylou Sanderson all of whom reside in Cottonwood, AZ. Funeral Service with one-hour prior visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., in Cottonwood, AZ. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00pm. Red will be laid to rest at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale, AZ immediately following services.
