George Henry Short, 75 of Cottonwood, passed away in Phoenix on October 22, 2015. He was born on February 15, 1940 in Mountain Air, NM to Lee Garland Short and Margaret Rose Logan. George worked for the Teamster Union, Verde Valley Golf Course as the Greens manager and Edward M. Shill Enterprises as a truck driver. George enjoyed golfing, bowling, riding his Harley and playing pool. He was a kind and caring father and friend. He was always there for you when needed. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Elberta Short; his daughter Roberta Rosas and his brother Alfred Short. George is survived by a son, Alfred Short of Yuma, Arizona; daughters Karen of Chandler, Arizona, Jamie Lara (Eutimo Lara-Leon) of Cottonwood; sisters Adlain May (Wendell) of Crowley, Texas, Shirley Short of Crowley, Texas and Rebecca Kirkland of Pryor, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29 at the Westcott Funeral Home from 3-5 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 30 in the funeral home at 11 AM.
