George E. Weber, 96, resident of Cottonwood passed away on Monday, October 6, 2008. He was born in Brookville, Indiana on March 30, 1912; the son of William and Magdelina (Smith) Weber. George has been very active in church throughout his entire life; he was baptized, schooled, confirmed, and married at St. Michael\u0027s Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree member since 1940; he helped organize the Bishop Granjan Council at St. Catherine\u0027s in Phoenix; where he served as Council Treasurer for a number of years and was also the President of the Holy Name Society. George served as a Eucharistic Minister since 1974. He was a Daily Altar Server at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 10 years-not retiring from such until he was almost 91 years old. He organized the Mary, Queen of Peace Prayer Group in Prescott and continued with Group in Cottonwood; and coordinated the Eucharistic Adoration at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. George also served in the capacity of Cub Master at St. Peter and Paul in Tucson from 1948-1949. Professionally, George worked at the Litchfield Naval Air Facility; where he was recognized for and received an award for outstanding work. It was in 1966 that he retired from the Naval Air Facility, following which, he worked in maintenance for St. Catherine\u0027s and the public school system for another ten years. George remained active in community events wherever he lived. He was the President of Golden Age Nutrition in Prescott for three years; he served in Dining Rooms and with Meals on Wheels for nine years. George also worked the election polls in both Phoenix and Prescott; and even taught a Naturalization Class in 1985. George was an avid reader, and had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Medsudjorie, Yugoslavia, The Holy Land, and Rome. George leaves behind his wife of nearly 73 years, Selma Weber of Cottonwood; three sons, Dan Weber of Cottonwood, Paul Weber of Honolulu, and Wayne Weber of Grand Canyon; three daughters, Sharon McNab of Chandler, Ann Lincoln of Phoenix, and Nora Godley of Surprise; one brother, Harold Weber of Hamilton, Ohio; 30 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis; two brothers, Andrew and Robert; and two sisters, Mildred and Mary. A Rosary will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 6:00pm.
