Georgianna M. Schactman

Georgianna Mary Schactman (\u0027\u0027Georgie\u0027\u0027), 79, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on July 2, 2005. Born in Minnesota on March 1, 1926, to Inez and Nye McCarty, Georgie grew up in Ortonville, Minnesota. She later resided mainly in Chicago, the Lake Minnetonka area of Minneapolis and, for the past 18 years, in Cottonwood. She was employed in the restaurant industry throughout her earlier years and, for the last 12 years, was a volunteer Senior Companion. Georgie was preceded in death by her son, Daniel McCarty, and her brothers, Patrick, James, Martin and Dennis McCarty. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Schmidt (Richard); her brothers, Robert McCarty and Andrew McCarty (Karen); her sisters, Lucille Borgen, Mildred Washleski (Thomas), Margaret Mantifel; and Helen Mantifel (Raymond); her daughter in law, Carol McCarty; her grandchildren, Nye McCarty, Devlin McCarty, Shannon Weber, Gregory Jacobs and Tracy Ewing; three great-grandchildren and many, many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Georgie\u0027s pride and joy were her grandsons, Nye and Devlin, and their little dog, Oliver, who absolutely adored her. She had a big personality and a heart to match. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends and not forgotten by anyone else whose life she touched. No public services were held.
