Gerald N. Stattner, 86, passed away June 23, 2012. Gerald was born in Pana, IL to Elmer and Eve Stattner. He attended Millersville Grade School, Pana Township High School, the University of IL and Millikin University. He married Violet Jean Hinden in the Methodist Church of Millersville on August 25, 1946. Gerald served in the Army Air Corps in World War II for two years in southern France. He was a cryptographer and operated an Instrument Landing System. Gerald was a farmer for fifty two years near Owaneco, IL. He was a member of the United Methodist Churches in Millersville, Pana, Buckeye and Mountain View in Cottonwood, AZ. He was a Sunday School teacher and served on many commissions in the churches, but mostly as a Trustee. He belonged to the United Methodist Men, was a Drainage Ditch Commissioner, a Millersville Cemetery Trustee, belonged to the Christian County Farm Bureau, served as President of the Board of the Millersville Co-op Grain Co., member of the Christian County Historical Society, and a Lifetime member of the American Legion. He had recently joined the VFW. He was proud of his service in the Army. Gerald enjoyed everything about flying, playing games with family and friends, Bible study classes, Lawrence Welk and cowboy music. He truly loved people and enjoyed telling stories of his early life and his experiences in WWII. He is survived by his wife, Violet Jean, two Daughters, Judy Marie Stattner of Cottonwood and Sally Kay (Steven) Scheibly of Surprise, AZ; his sister, Eloise (John) Leighty of McHenry, Il; a brother-in-law Harry (Florence) Hinden of FL; two grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 1:00 P.M at the Mountain View United Methodist Church, 901 S. 12th St, Cottonwood, AZ.
