Gerald D. (Wally) Walburn, 84, of Cottonwood, AZ passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was born in Salina, KS on July 18, 1925 to Paul V. and Mina E. (Holman) Walburn. He grew up and was educated in Kansas and he later served in the United States Marine Corp. After his time in the service, he resided in San Diego where he owned and operated a carpet, drapery and interior design business. Mr. Walburn enjoyed playing the clarinet. He stayed active and current with his music playing in many bands including the Marine Corp Band, and bands in San Diego and in Cottonwood. In addition Mr. Walburn also enjoyed traveling in his motor home and riding both dirt bikes and ATVs in the sand dunes of California. Gerald Walburn was greatly loved and will missed by his wife of 63 years Shirley, his son Rex V. Walburn and wife Judy of Yuma, AZ, his daughter Tani D. Stehle and husband Richard of Cottonwood, his grandchildren: Lisa (Lorin) Adams, Kara (John) Moloney, Jeff (Veta) Walburn, Jessica (Josh) Manci, and great grandchildren: Nathan Adams, Tyler, Kyle and Caitlin Moloney, Cole and Ryan Walburn, and Colin and Cayden Manci. Mr. Walburn was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Velrie A. Foukes. There will be no public services held for Mr. Walburn, memorial donations in his name have been requested by his family to be sent to Northern Arizona Hospice 203 S.
