Harold Lovett

Long- time Verde Valley resident Harold Lovett died at his home on Saturday, July 7, 2012 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane, daughters Becky (Gene Kulis), Evelyn/Lyn (Steve Harris) and sons Mike (Maggie), and Dennis (Ann), 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine. Harold was born on November 30, 1927 in Mill Creek, Oklahoma to parents George and Bertha Mae Lovett. The family joined the exodus to California, leaving the Dust Bowl. Harold went to school in Anaheim, California. He attended his 65th class reunion in September of 2011. He married school sweetheart Patsy Bean in 1945 and all five of their children were born in California. Harold went on to become a master mason, owning his own company. Many buildings stand today in Anaheim and Stanton that bear his craftmanship. He was honored by awards from the California Masons Association. In 1968 after some exploratory trips to the Verde Valley and Arizona, Harold moved his family to Sedona where he passed the exams and became a real estate salesman and Broker, later moving to Cottonwood where he has lived since 1975. Harold was very involved in his community. He had been a member of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce since it\u0027s conception . He was an active member of the Lions Club for many years, along with the Kiwanis, the Verde Valley Fair Association, etc. Harold and Diane were married in 1977 and continued together to work in the community as volunteers, resulting in being chosen as Grand Marshalls of the Christmas Parade in 2007. Harold and Diane had several businesses over the years including Black Hills Construction, Cottonwood Realty, Camp Verde Realty and the Little Daisy Motel. A memorial service for Harold will be on Saturday, July 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood. A reception will follow at the home of Becky and Gene Kulis at 52 South 18th Street in Cottonwood. In lieu of flowers please contribute to your favorite charity in the Verde Valley.
