Henrietta "Etta" I. Hare, 87, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2006. She was born on June 3, 1919 in Brooklyn, New York to Gustav A. and Emma L. (Beutner) Heyer. She was raised in Jamaica, New York, where she attended the local schools; elementary through her first year in high school. As a young adult, she worked as a switchboard operator; this particular job is one that she enjoyed the most. Upon doctor's recommendation to leave the damp weather of Florida, Etta moved to Arizona, where she was also able to be near her daughter. Following the death of her husband, Etta lived with her daughter and son-in-law for the next 30-some years. Etta was more of "home-body"; her family truly was her entire life. She did however, enjoy crocheting until her hands and eyes grew too weak. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Hare; and her brother, Frank Heyer. Etta leaves behind her beloved daughter, Helen Nichols and her husband, Norm, of Cottonwood, Arizona; her only grandson, Robert Nichols and his wife, Wanda, of Phoenix, Arizona; as well as, 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of Phoenix, Arizona. There are no local services planned at this time. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
