Iona Turner, formerly of Cottonwood passed away in Sedona. God re-enlisted a R.N. into service for those in heaven. Iona C. Connelly Turner, R.N. became one of God\u0027s angels on May 17, 2015 at age 95. Born June 18, 1919 in Wellington, Kansas. Iona is now reunited with her beloved husband, David E. "Bing" Turner; son William "Billie"; along with her parents William and Francis Connelly. Lieutenant Connelly served our country as an R.N. during World War II at which time she met the love of her life Captain David Turner. They were married in Australia on February 4, 1944. Bing\u0027s career was the Air Force, upon his retirement the family of 6 moved to Flagstaff, AZ where Iona served as a nurse for Flagstaff Medical Center until 1985 when she and Bing moved to Cottonwood. Iona leaves behind her children: sons David M. (Jannie) and Robert D. (Kathy) who reside in Flagstaff, daughter Mary Caviness (Mike), and sister Pat White who reside in Cottonwood, along with daughter-in-law Julie Turner of Woodbridge, Virginia . There are 11 grandchildren along with 16 great grandchildren who will say she lived her life without regrets because she helped many people, served God, and lived life to its fullest. Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Mass at 10:30 a.m. will be on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood.; interment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flagstaff at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers at Iona\u0027s request contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors in her memory.
