Irma O. Vajda

June 20, 1916 — October 15, 2013

Irma O. Vajda, 97, of Sedona, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Irma was born on June 20, 1916 in Cleveland, OH to Charles and Lila (Nagy) Bodnar. Irma was the daughter of Hungarian immigrants, a war bride, skilled seamstress and clothes designer. At the age of 75 she earned her Associates Degree in Business from Grand Rapids Community College. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, fiercely loyal to family and friends; generous with her time and resources, a supporter of the underdog and she had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a nationally known button collector who won many blue ribbons for her buttons and helped others succeed. We can only marvel at all that she saw and experienced in 97 years. May we all be able to love life as she did and share that spirit with others. Irma was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis Vajda and her daughter, Lola Bejbl. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Charles) Phelps of Sedona; her brother, Charles (Barbara) Bodnar of Cleveland, OH; and her grandchildren, Nathan Phelps, Heather Phelps, and Sean Bejbl. A celebration of her life will be held at Jerona Java Caf, located at 677 E. Mingus Ave. in Cottonwood, on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM
