Isabelle "Chavela" Calistro Gonzales

Isabelle Calistro Gonzales, known and loved as "Chavela", 81, resident of Clarkdale, passed away at home on Friday, November 16, 2007. She was born on May 26, 1926 to Gabriel and Margarita (Ramirez) Calistro in Cottonwood; where she grew up and attended the local schools. Isabelle worked as a cook for the Verde Valley Senior Center in Old Town Cottonwood. She is preceded in death by her son, Louis "Cookie" Calistro. She leaves behind nine sons, Daniel G. Soto with his wife, Maxine of Cottonwood, Richard Gonzales of Cottonwood, Robert Gonzales with his wife, Victoria also of Cottonwood, Raul Gonzales of Phoenix, LeRoy Gonzales of Cottonwood, Carlos Gonzales with his wife, Dawn of Tempe, Frank Gonzales with his wife, Kim of Phoenix, Marcus Sanchez with his wife, Judy of Cottonwood, and Henry "Bird" Sanchez with his wife, Kelli of Phoenix; three daughters, Virginia Morgan with her husband, John of Ashfork, Rosella Calistro with her husband, Chuck of Cottonwood, and Paula Gonzales with her husband, Cecelio of Clarkdale; one brother, Daniel Calistro and his wife, Cleo of Flagstaff; two sisters, Lydia Tercero of Phoenix, and Annie Soto of Fresno, California; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 from 6:00-8:00pm with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. The Funeral Service will follow Wednesday morning, November 21, 2007 at 10:00am.
