Ismael "Smiley" Lopez Hernandez, born June 26, 1926 in Jerome, Arizona, peacefully passed away in the loving arms of his family and aromas of his loving wife Catalina\u0027s "Cate" cooking on September 22, 2011. Ismael served in the U.S. Army in WWII. He worked for Kaiser Steel Mill in Fontana, California for 30 years and retired at the young age of 46 years. Smiley lived a dream retirement in Rosarito Beach, BC, Mexico playing tennnis almost everyday. Ismael returned to his roots in Clarkdale, Arizona at the age of 65. Smiley was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Smiley leaves behind his beloved wife Cate, together in marriage for 59 years; his daughter Christine Hayes (Stan and sons Steven (Cecilia), Roy (Helen), Paul (Susan) and Robert. He also leaves a sister Soccoro Lira, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 28 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 11 AM.
