Jack O'Brien Chapman

October 12, 1924 — December 26, 2009

Jack O\u0027Brien Chapman, born October 12, 1924 in Altus, OK, died December 26, 2009 with family by his side at home in Oak Creek Valley after a short bout with cancer. Jack proudly served in the US Navy for 23 years during WWII, Korea, Vietnam and retired in Phoenix as a recruiter. He then worked at Honeywell for 20 years then he and wife Norma traveled and worked summers at Jackson Lake Lodge for 7 years before settling down in the Cottonwood area. Retirement was short lived and he was soon working at Auto Zone delivering parts in the Verde Valley until 2 months ago. Jack also shared his love of Big Band music as a DJ for radio stations on Midway Island, Phoenix and Sedona. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Norma; daughter Denise Dyer (Dennis Polisano); son Dennis Chapman (Lauralie); granddaughter Shannon Piano (Leo); granddaughter Kelly Chapman; great granddaughter Leslie Piano; great grandson Jesse Montero; and great grandson Louis Piano. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the US Navy Memorial Foundation, 701 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W. Suite 123, Washington D.C. 20004. Services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Westcott Funeral Home at 10AM, 1013 E. Mingus Ave, Cottonwood, AZ.
