James R. Anderson, age 80, of Flagstaff died on January 10, 2011 under the care of The Peaks Assisted Living in Flagstaff . Mr. Anderson was born on May 9, 1930 in Breckenridge , Texas to James William and Bessie Mae (Francis) Anderson. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Anderson and his wife Betty Lou founded the Jim Anderson Jewelry store in Flagstaff in 1972. Today the jewelry store still operates under his name and is operated by his family. He was very active in the community, he was a member of the Flagstaff Jaycee's, Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge, Lions Club, Shriners, Jesters, Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion. In his off time and into retirement he loved to travel all over the world with his family and he enjoyed to fish as much as he could. Mr. Anderson is survived by his daughters, Mary (Fernando) DeLeon of Flagstaff , Lin Mickelsen of Cottonwood, son, William Ronald Anderson of Tolleson, sister, Dorothy King of Cottonwood , 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his long time companion, Beth Ann Hartsfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Betty Lou Anderson and son-in-law, Brian Mickelsen, Mr. Anderson's family would like to thank The Peaks staff at the memory care unit and skilled nursing facility for their loving care during the last few months of Mr. Anderson's life.
