James William Lawlor, 93, son of James William Lawlor and Elizabeth Nelson Lawlor of Chicago, Illinois. He was born in Chicago July 8, 1917. He married Virginia "Ginny" Krafft six months after meeting her on a blind date in 1942. Married for 67 years until Ginny passed away in November of 2009. Jim joined the Navy at the start of World War II and volunteered for the first Seabee battalion. He was part of the initial landing force at Guadalcanal and continued serving in the South Pacific until the end of the war. Later he was an active member of the VFW. In 1947, Jim and Ginny moved to Southern California where they lived in Manahattan Beach until he retired from the Southern California Gas Company in 1982 and moved to Frazier Park, California. During the 30 years they lived in Frazier Park they were actively involved in many community activities including Meals on Wheels, AARP and their Senior Center. In 2005 they moved to Cottonwood to be near their older son, Ken. Survived by two sons. Ken Lawlor (Carol) of Cornville, Arizona, and Mark Lawlor (Carole) of Yorba Linda, California, and their two children, Dyanne and Darryl. Family services will be held in California.
