James Penfield, 78, passed away in Cottonwood, AZ on August 8, 2012 but lived the majority of his life in Escondido, CA. James was born in Glendale, CA to Dr. and Mrs. Douglas Penfield. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters; Jean Wild of Ventura, CA and Virginia Finkbiner of Glendora, CA. James received his undergraduate degree from Whittier College; his MA from USC; served in the Navy for two years and graduated law school from UCLA. James was a practicing CA attorney for over 50 years; primarily in the field of family law. He served as an officer in the CA State Bar Association. He had a close circle of friends who for 40 years played cards, golfed, fished, hunted and traveled the world together. James is survived by wife Evelyn Penfield; three children: Tawny Dobrowolski (Jeffrey), Matthew Penfield (Christine DeMaria) and Brett Penfield. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Arielle, Lindsey and Brandon Dobrowolski and Jackson, Jude, Stella and Charlotte Penfield; sisters and brothers-in-law Jimmy and Janet Kissinger, Gene and Beth Jones and many other loving relatives and friends whose lives he touched. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1st, at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Faith Community Church, 639 E.
