James Poindexter, 76. of Cottonwood died March 8. He was born May 21, 1932 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of James B. and Theresa Poindexter. He was a graduate of Ohio Northern University where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the army. Mr. Poindexter worked for Motorola in Scottsdale as an engineer. He then worked for Marcus J. Lawrence Medical Center as Director of Plant Operations from 1985 to 1998. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. His family will remember him as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who could do almost anything. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Poindexter leaves his wife of 50 years, Rita; daughters, Carol Dexter Hayes, MD of Monument, Colorado and Dianne L. Poindexter of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; sisters, Kay (Sam) Artz of Cape Coral, Florida and Carol (Wayne) Crist of Punta Gorda, Florida and a granddaughter, Danna Hayes of Monument, Colorado. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 10 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 6 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 11 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 1:30 PM. The family asks that flowers be omitted and any memorial donations be made to the ACT Fund (Building Fund), Immaculate Conception Church 700 N. Bill Grey Rd., Cottonwood 86326.
