John James Baker

December 29, 1987 — February 10, 2008

John James Baker, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at St. Joseph\u0027s Hospital in Phoenix at the age of 20. He was born on December 29, 1987 in Phoenix to John W. and Rosalinda "Chiquie" R. Baker. John was a 2006 Honors Graduate of Mingus Union High School. Following High School John attended Yavapai College where he obtained his EMT Certification and was prepared to enter the Fire Academy. John also belonged to the Civil Air Patrol. John had a very athletic character, always playing in a variety of sports. For eight years he dedicated his time and passion to sports such as; baseball, football, soccer, and wrestling. He also had a love for Hot Rods and anything mechanical. He has rebuilt a number of his favorites, including a \u002706 Mustang Convertible Hot Rod, \u002798 GT Mustang, and an \u002789 Ford Bronco 4x4. Other interests of John\u0027s were music and computers. People where drawn to John; resulting in his having more friends than most people have acquaintances! Though he may be absent from the lives of many...his impact will never be forgotten. John leaves behind his parents, John and "Chiquie" Baker of Cottonwood; his brother, Aaron Bodine of Phoenix; and his sister, Vanessa Bailey of Avondale. In his memory, a Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 3:00-5:00pm at Westcott Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will follow Monday morning, February 18, 2008 at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sedona; where John was a member. Interment will immediately follow at All Souls Cemetery in Cottonwood. Contributions may be sent to John and Rosalinda Baker, 1384 E. Bow Maker Trail, Cottonwood, Arizona 86326.
