John E. Duff, resident of Cottonwood, passed away in Scottsdale at the age of 62 on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. John was the son of Edward C. and Norma (Dill) Duff; being born in Las Cruses, New Mexico on November 18, 1945. John served his country during the Vietnam War with the United States Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Hornet. For his dedication and service to his country, John was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Professionally, John worked for Joe Conway Trucking; and later on for Edward M. Shill Enterprise, LLC. During his spare time, John loved being in the outdoors, and enjoyed excavating with his tractor. John leaves behind four sons, Terry Duff (Amanda) of Queen Creek, Arizona, Jim Murmy of Manchester, New Hampshire, Eric (Jenny) Murmy of San Antonio, Texas, and Andy Murmy of Cottonwood, Arizona; two daughters, Sherry Hill (Eric) of San Antonio, Texas, and Elisha Dunaway (Bruce) of Houston, Texas; one brother, Jack Wiley of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Rita Shockey (J.D.) of Phoenix, and Nita Lois Chitwood of Nevada; and Patricia Duff of Cottonwood, Arizona. John is also survived by eight grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 10:00am with a prior visitation.
