John Henry Allen

John Henry Allen, Sr., 82, of Cottonwood passed away September 10. 2015. He was born January 8, 1933 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Harold and Faye Allen. He graduated from West Phoenix High School, graduating in 1951. He served his country in the Army, was a graduate of 47th Engineers Officers School, went on to serve with Army National Guard fro 10 years, retiring as a Captain. A graduate of Arizona State University in 1957, he received his Bachelors in Economics and Management. He went on to work for Northern Arizona University as head of their purchasing department. Mr. Allen owned the Snort \u0027N\u0027 Sport Liquor Store in Flagstaff. He built, owned and sold apartment buildings and homes in both Flagstaff and the Verde Valley. He was a member of American Legion Post #25 in Cottonwood. Mr. Allen is survived by his sons, Hank Allen of Block Island, Rhode Island, Jeff Allen (Sue) of Flagstaff; daughters Jennifer Rickner (Steve) of Fruitland, New Mexico and Jacque Sanchez of Arizona; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, September 26 at American Legion Post #25 on Calvary Way in Cottonwood at 2 PM. A pot luck reception will follow.
