John L. Hunter

John Leslie Hunter born September 14th, 1940, age 72, passed away on February 28, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. John was raised in Kittson County Minnesota and graduated from Hallock High School in 1958. He attended the University of North Dakota and graduated from Arizona State University with a Master of Education degree. In 1972 John married Nancy Kay Book in Kingman, Arizona. They raised one daughter, Christina Hunter of Yuma, AZ. John was a District Program Manager for the Arizona Department of Economic Security Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services. He received several awards for outstanding service. John was very active in the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church. He also was active in the National Presbytery Church functions. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy (Christensen) Hunter. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Christina, brother Charles (Marie) Hunter, nephew and nieces Roger Hunter, Joan Hunter, Patricia Kindsvater and numerous cousins. He will be missed by the family. He was very supportive of family and an inspiration in handling his misfortunes in health. Services will be held Saturday, March 9th at 11:00am at the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church, 1500 E. Hombre Drive, in Cottonwood, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, John prefers any donations be made to: Services Maximizing Independent Living and Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E.) 1929 Arizona Ave., Yuma, AZ 85364; or to the Verde Valley Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood, AZ 86326.
