John Scott, 96, of Cottonwood died June 7. He was born February 2, 1913 in Edinburgh , Scotland , the son of James and Mary Scott. He was a graduate of Ryder College and served his country as a sergeant first class in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Normandy campaign. Mr. Scott was a drummer in jazz bands, playing with Dizzy Gillespie and Gene Krupa. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and also enjoyed cycling and of course the drums. He leaves his sons John Kenneth Scott of Maine and David Glenn Scott (Patricia) of California ; granddaughters, Jaime Leah Happ (Brian) of California and Samantha J. Scott.
