Joseph Frances Duncan

Joseph Frances Duncan passed away on February 10, 2006; he was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, on August 4, 1923 to Frances and Laura Duncan. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Lee Duncan. His survivors include: son Jim Duncan and daughter-in-law Barbie, granddaughter Jennifer; son Wayne Duncan and daughter-in-law Margie Shelton, grandchildren Kim, Richard, Shawnee, and Dusty; son Marvin Duncan and daughter-in-law Jan, grandchildren Dan, and Michael; six great-grandchildren; sisters Elsie King of Tennessee and Lois Adams of Kansas, and brother Jake "Cobb" Duncan of Oklahoma. Joe was raised on his parent's farm in Oklahoma before joining the U.S. Marine Corp where he served three years during World War II in Okinawa, Saipan, and Sasebo, Japan. He chose Prescott to start his family, then moved to Clarkdale in 1954 where he lived and worked for Alabam Freight Lines and Phoenix Cement Plant until his forced retirement in 1969 as a result of multiple sclerosis. Joe enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, golf, playing cards, and backyard mechanic on his old jeep. He was a member of the Jerome Elks Lodge 1361, Verde Valley Country Club, and Catholic Church of Clarkdale. Joe will always be remembered for his positive attitude and terrific sense of humor. A memorial service is planned for Friday, February 17, 10:00 am, at Westcott Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
