Joseph Adrian Mahoney

Joseph Adrian Mahoney, 83, of Clarkdale died October 1. He was born February 13, 1926 in Barnesville, Ohio the son of Otto Paul Mahoney and Florence Regina McCort Mahoney. He was a graduate of Barnesville High School. Mr. Mahoney served his country in the Navy during World War II (1941-1945) and served on the USS Kankakee. He received the American campaign medal, Occupation Service medal for the Asiatic Pacific Campaign among others. He worked 56 years with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local #18, District #6 of Ohio where he was a life member. He was life member of VFW Post #2792-129 of Barnesville, Ohio, VFW Post #7400 of Cottonwood and American Legion Post #25 of Cottonwood. He was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty L. (Albaugh) Mahoney, his parents, brothers, Otto Paul Mahoney, Jr., William Mahoney and Paul Mahoney; sisters, Mary "Sadie" Whaley, Chloe Elizabeth "Betty" Holland; two granddaughters, Tara Lynn Johnson and Sheri Lynn Brown. Mr. Mahoney leaves daughters Regina Ann Johnson (Robert), Teresa Jane King (Dewayne) and Anna Lee Owen (J.W.); and sons Daniel Joseph Mahoney and Thomas Patrick Mahoney; and stepson Terry Lynn Abbuhl (Patti); a sister Loretta Miller; grandchildren, Danna Easter Mahoney, Patra Jean Rutherford, Joshua Adrian Johnson, Malcom Wayne King, Michael Patrick Brown, Jennifer Lee Brown, Daniel Joseph Mahoney, Jr., Stacey Lynn Mahoney, Barbara Ann Mahoney, Bailey Marie Mahoney, Patrick Adrian Mahoney, Blaine Caley Mahoney and Joseph Adam Mahoney; eighteen great-grandchildren; fourteen nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and nephews all of whom are loved greatly. He was Catholic and baptized at St. Mary's Church in Barnesville, Ohio and was a meber of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid reader and writer of poems and had many interests from rock, glass to coin collecting. Private family services will be held.
