Joseph Ziskoske, 81, of Cottonwood, Arizona passed away peacefully on September 30, 2005. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 27, 1924 and served in the 871st Army Engineers in New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns in the Pacific in World War II. Joseph and his wife, Alberta were married at St. George's Catholic Church in Chicago. They lived in the Chicago area until moving to Arizona in 1962. Joe worked for 40 years in the wholesale grocery business, 15 of those at Associated Grocers in Phoenix. Joe and Alberta retired to Ellsworth Heights in Show Low, Arizona and relocated to Cottonwood in 1989, living on Larkspur Drive and at Pine Shadows. He is preceded in death by his wife and partner of 58 years, Alberta, who died on May 13, 2005. Joe is survived by his sisters in the Chicago area Marie Knetl and Eleanor Nemec and his son John Zisk(oske) of Manhattan Beach, CA; daughter Nancy Titus of Cottonwood, granddaughter Specialist Katherine Titus, US Army, Fort Belvoir, VA and, soon to be born grandson, Christopher Joseph. Joe enjoyed fishing, music and gardening, especially tending to his extraordinary roses and tomatoes. He was a devoted husband and exceptional father, who appreciated the simple things in life.
