June Getty Barnes, 80, resident of Cottonwood, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008 in Prescott. She was born on June 23, 1927 to James and Irene Isabel (Bossow) Getty in Spring Lake, New Jersey. June is a 1944 graduate of New Brunswick High School; and a U. S. Navy Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict as TESN. June was one of the first board members of the Verde Historical Society. Celebrating her 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2000 was another accomplishment in her life she was very proud of. She loved duck decoys, barns and covered bridges, lighthouses, birds-especially "Hummies", and dogs-particularly, Snoopy! But more than anything, she loved her family and her many friends. June leaves behind her husband of now, 57 years, Richard Barnes of Cottonwood; her son, Michael with his wife, Melinda of Carlsbad, California; her daughters, Irene with her husband, Robert of Bonney Lake, Washington, Patricia of Cottonwood, Roberta of Oakton, Virginia, Tina Jones with her husband, Dean of Larkspur, Colorado, and Marcine; her sister, Margorie Tallmadge with her husband, Donald of New Jersey; as well as 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In her honor, a Memorial Service will be held at the Verde Valley Senior Center in Cottonwood at 2:30pm on Thursday, May 15, 2008. Memorial donations can be sent to: Clemenceau Heritage Museum, 1 N.
