June B. Young, a resident of the Verde Valley for 44 years, who now resides in Cottonwood, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the age of 91. She was born August 5, 1916 in Minneapolis, Minnesota; daughter of Hilding and Blanche (Beardsley) Lindquist. June was fortunate to enjoy the roles of mother and homemaker until all of her children were grown; then in the 70's she worked at an Indian jewelry in Sedona. Later, she and her husband, Lawrence, worked together in real estate until the time of her retirement. Even after retiring, June kept active in the community by taking her interests and love for animals-and volunteered her time and effort to the Humane Society's Good-Buy Shoppe in Cottonwood. This was a calling she undertook up until just three years ago; totaling 15 years of service. Her love for animals and her deep concern for their welfare was instilled in her children from the very beginning; and they too, all have family pets. At the time of her passing she had a dog and a cat that she loved dearly; they now live with her son. June is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Young; She leaves behind her son, Larry Young of Phoenix; and her two daughters, Sue Young of Oceanside, California, and Patricia Young-Kreider of Cottonwood. Private Family Services will be held in her memory. Donations can be made in June's name to: Humane Society of the Verde Valley, 1502 W. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood, Arizona 86326.
