Karen Ardell McDermott, 60, of Cornville died January 11. She was born July 19, 1944 in Tucson. She attended Catalina High School in Tucson. Karen was a bartender at the Old Corral Bar and the Page Springs Restaurant and Bar. She had also drove a school bus, was a dental assistant and operated the \u0027\u0027Cowgirl Clothing Company\u0027\u0027 with her daughter. Karen enjoyed cowboying with the guys at Windmill Ranch, fishing with grandkids, snow skiing, skeet shooting (she was a crackshot), antiquing, barrel racing and roping. She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Tom McDermott and a sister, Jane Orlecky. She leaves two daughters, Ardell Handverger of Cottonwood and Sham Eldridge of Elko, Nevada; her mother, Belva Allen of Cottonwood; her father, Doug Rutherford of Cave Creek; a brother, Adam Jones of Cottonwood; three sisters, Buckshot Carpenter of Bagdad, Charlene Kester of Cottonwood and Judy Jones-Dalton of Rimrock; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15 in the Verde Valley Christian Church (Rt. 89 at Zalesky Rd) at 11 AM.
