Katherine B. Winget at age 98, died Saturday, December 28, 2013 surrounded by family at home in Cottonwood, Arizona. She was born in Jennings, Oklahoma, oldest of 4 children. She empowered her children and many others during her life. Katherine was an accomplished pianist, organist and choir director. At over 70 years old, she served as chaplain at Methodist Manor, Gaithersburg, Maryland, while earning 10 units of Clinical Pastoral Education. She earned her Bachelor of General Studies Degree from Southern Vermont College at the age of 80. She coordinated the volunteer chaplaincy program for Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West, Arizona retiring at 92. She always had a stash of firecrackers! She was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting, soft doll making, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, swimming, traveling and politics. She was a musician, mother, hospital chaplain and caregiver in which all came naturally. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lyle, her son James David, 2 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by 3 sons Rex (Marie), Robert (Karen) and John (Jean) and 1 daughter Jean (Stephen). In addition; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. A celebration of Katherine\u0027s life will be on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Mt. View United Methodist Church, 901 S. 12th St., Cottonwood, Arizona at 2:00pm with reception following.
