Cottonwood Pioneer, Willard family descendant and long time resident, Kathryn Eileen Klein, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours on July 1, 2013. She was born to Henry and Emma Farley on August 17, 1920 and was raised in the family home on Main Street. Kathryn attended grade school at the Clemenceau School. She completed high school at the Arizona Academy in Phoenix in 1937. Two years later she graduated from Pacific Union College, Angwin, California with an Associate of Arts in Secretarial Science. Kathryn married the love of her life, Walter Franklin Klein on April 6, 1942 in Phoenix, Arizona. After Walter served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy, Kathryn and Walter made their home in Phoenix, raising one son, Walter Douglas. In 1964 they returned to Cottonwood and lived the rest of their lives in the home they built in 1965 just off Willard Street. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2002; her parents Henry and Emma Farley and her brother Charles Elbert Farley. She is survived by her son Walter Douglas (Christine), grandson Walter Franklin Klein II (Allison and much beloved great-granddaughter Fiona Leigh), granddaughter Elizabeth Anne Ben-Shalom (Maayan), niece Glenda Farley Lum and many extended family members. Her career included secretarial and accounting services for several Phoenix are physicians, the Tempe Community Hospital and the Arizona Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists. She was a faithful lifelong member of the S.D.A. Church serving many years as treasurer and church organist. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her kind, loving and generous spirit. A celebration of her life will be held at the Cottonwood S.D.A.
