Laurel F. Grundmeier, 63, of Cottonwood, died July 11, 2006 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 1, 1943 in Bremerton, WA to Clifford and Marian Grundmeier. She was a graduate of Concordia College in Minnesota, University of Illinois and Prescott College. She taught physical education in Hood River, Oregon and Paxton, Illinois. Laurel was a career counselor with the State of Minnesota Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and was also in private counseling practice. The past 24 years she worked at the Verde Valley Medical Center, most recently under the Perot Health Systems as a patient account auditor. She is survived by a brother, Mitchell Grundmeier of Kennewick, Washington, several nieces and nephews, her beagle Towser, and her life partner Carrie Andrews.
