Leland R. Pearcy, 63, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2007. He was born to Francis Robert and Nellie Edith (Burris) Pearcy, on December 18, 1943 in Clemenceau, Arizona. He grew up in Cottonwood and Jerome, attending the local schools and graduating from Mingus High School in 1961. He came from early pioneer families of Harer's and Clines from the Payson area and then in the 1930's, his maternal grandparents homesteaded a ranch west of Sedona that later became the Red Canyon Ranch. His parents owned and operated the Richfield Station in Cottonwood for many years at the corner of Mingus and Main. Leland worked in the finance business, managed several Circle K stores in Arizona and New Mexico, and most recently was employed at the Dead Horse State Park. Leland also became a Bible Teacher, which became one of his greatest enjoyments. He was a member of the Emmanuel Fellowship Church in Cottonwood, and will be remembered by all his family and friends for his love of the Lord, and especially the institution of Fishing. Leland is preceded in death by his son, David; and his parents. He leaves behind his brother, Larry Pearcy of Prescott, Arizona; along with his nieces, Pam Owens, Shelly Myers; and nephew, Vernon Pearcy. A Funeral Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 11:00am. Following, Leland will be laid to rest at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
