Lewis "Rusty" Black, 77 of Cottonwood , went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2012. He was born in Flagstaff on June 28, 1935 to Ed and Frances Black of Sedona. He was raised in Sedona and attended school in the old Sedona Elementary School and graduated from Flag High in 1953. From there he attended one year at U of A before going to work for Tom Mulcaire in 1954. In 1960 he got a call from A.D.O.T. asking him to come to work. He worked there until he retired in 1989. He met Beverly Short on a blind date in June 1957 and married 6 weeks later. Rusty was an outdoors person; enjoying fishing, hunting and camping. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Everyone who knew him loved him. I\u0027ve never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. Rusty was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Frances Black; a 2 year old son Eddie and his sister Helen Brewer. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; daughter Tammy ( Del ) Dixon ; daughter Barbara Moore; 2 grandsons Greg Holm and Austin Moore all of Rimrock. Also 3 nieces and 2 nephews along with their spouses and children and many cousins. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23 at 10:30am at Verde Baptist Church , 102 S. Willard Street in Cottonwood . The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Northern Arizona Hospice, 203 South Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 or to the Mt. View Baptist Church, 2150 E Linda Vista Dr, Flagstaff, AZ 86004 to help replenish some of the cash that was stolen in a recent break in there.
