Lillian L. Van Gorder, resident of Cottonwood, passed away in Sedona on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the age of 98! She was born In Marengo, Iowa on July 28, 1909. She was the daughter of Carroll E. Lewis and Ruth Cozier (Dewey) Lewis. Lillian was very active in her community; she was the successful owner of a Lillian\u0027s Sweet Shop in Old Town Cottonwood; she served as President of the Cottonwood Community Civic Club in 1949; she was a member of the Soil and Water Conservation Society, the Eastern Star, and Mountain View United Methodist Church. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; her sister, Carolyn Pettigrew; and her daughter, Sharilou Van Gorder. She leaves behind her daughter, Darline DeGonia of Anaheim, California; her daughter-in-law, Carol D. Farmer; five grandchildren, Charles G. Van Gorder III with his wife, Ruth Ann, and Robert Brummett all of Cottonwood, Malissa A. Geer, and her husband Nathan C. Geer both of Phoenix; eight great-grandchildren, Aldyn Geer, Danielle Lucia Geer, Elliot Liliana Geer, Katie Smart, Chelle Smart, Rick Smart, Marla Smart, Vinita Smart, and Tiffani Smart; as well as, two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler Danielle Teague and London Smart-Baird. A Funeral Service will be held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:00am. Following which, Lillian will be laid to rest at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
