Lucille Weece, 91, of Cottonwood died Friday, April 7th at Verde Valley Medical Center. Visitation will be Tuesday April 11 from 5-7 PM at Westcott Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 12 at Westcott Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Conrad officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery. Lucille was born on July 21, 1914 in Brunswick, Nebraska where she was educated. She married Ray Weece at the end of the war, moving to Cottonwood in 1959 to care for her parents. She survived her parents, Ray Weece and her brother Dale McMillan. She is survived by one niece, Jan Hellige and her husband Mike of Sioux City, Iowa and one nephew Dennis McMillan and his wife Diane of Milford, Iowa. Lucille loved Arizona as did her husband, Ray. Lucille was a crossword puzzle enthusiast, enjoyed her TV game shows and fishing when she was able. Lucille worked at Sprouse-Reitz Variety Store until her retirement. She had the misfortune of out-living many, many of her friends but the personal grace to make new ones. Since all of her immediate family resided in Iowa she quickly endeared herself to her Arizona friends and became part of their family. This was especially true of of the Allen Phillips family, her neighbors at the court, Donna Wilkens family and her young friend Juan Miranda. She was optimistic in the face of whatever came her way. A grand lady who will be missed by all who loved her. She was a member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church. An online guestbook is available at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
