M. Elaine Shankland

M. Elaine Shankland, 90, died April 10, 2009 in Prescott, AZ. She was born on Feb. 5, 1919 in St. Helens, OR to Vilas and Mildred Shepard. Elaine grew up and went to school in Clatskanie, OR. She attend cosmetology school in OR, became a beautician for 48 yrs in 3 states. She had a love of gardening and animals and was a support of the humane society. She was a member of the Clark County Saddle Club in Vancouver, WA for 25 yrs, riding with the women\u0027s drill team. She was a founding member of the Verde Valley Roverettes Women\u0027s drill team. She was also a 4-H leader for many years. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jon. She is survived by her 3 children; son Darryl "Bud" Shankland of Walla Walla, WA. Daughters; Jorga Stark of Woodland, WA and Mella Dee Wagner of Chino Valley, AZ. 7 grand children, 12 great grand children, and 2 great-great grand children. Private family services are planned.
