Madonna Lorraine Kelly

July 15, 1926 — June 25, 2014

Madonna "Donna" Lorraine Kelly waltzed away from this life on June 25, 2014 from her home in Cottonwood, Arizona. She was born July 15, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Harry F. and Loretta E. Collins Grafton. When Donna was a child, her dedicated mother encouraged participation in theater. She studied classical ballet and dance while attending West High and Lakewood High schools in the Cleveland area. She became a versatile dancer and even tap-danced on her toes! She sang in several groups, including quartets and trios, and appeared in numerous productions. Donna always enjoyed taking her family to plays. Donna attended Bowling Green State University and joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She earned a teaching degree in English and Speech. Senior year Donna married Earl J. Mort. During their 36 years of marriage they raised eight children while living in Northeastern Ohio and Tucson, Arizona. Donna later earned her Masters degree in Teaching for the Hearing Impaired at the University of Arizona and went on to teach young children. This talented lady received many honors during her lifetime. While at BGSU, she was chosen Homecoming Queen, May Queen and Sweetheart of Sigma Chi. But she was most honored by the wonderful people God brought into her life. Donna loved people of all ages. Her playful nature made her a light in the lives of many others. Donna later married her high school sweetheart, James P. Kelly II. They traveled much and lived in Alpharetta, Georgia for 24 years. When widowed, Donna moved to Cottonwood, Arizona to be closer to some of her children and has thoroughly enjoyed frequent visits from her family, including 23 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and lots of friends. Donna is a devoted lifetime Catholic. Survived by children Lawrence D. Mort of Rochester NY, E. Bradley Mort of Tucson AZ, Susan B. Christian of Bozeman MT, Christine M. Guenther of Cornville AZ, Cynthia E. Kuhn of Rochester NY, Amy M. Munroe of Sandpointe ID, and Heidi R. Mort of Cornville AZ; brother H. Dale Grafton of Rocky River OH; and children by second marriage James P. Kelly III, Leslie Adair, and Rita Whitley. Predeceased son Paul R. Mort. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 700 N. Bill Gray Road, Cottonwood AZ.
