Margaret "Peggy" U. Powell, 82, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away Monday, May 15, 2006. She was born on July 23, 1923 in Pasadena, California to August and Margaret (Cleland) Utz. Throughout her entire life, Peggy was always writing as a Freelance Writer and Editor, she was a News Reporter and the Special Sections Editor for the world renowned magazine, L.A. Times. Peggy was a "rock-hound" and a collector of shells. She also enjoyed cooking. She was nominated the Distinguished Elder's Award through N.A.C.O.G., of which, she was very proud. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Powell; her son, John H. Powell and her sister, Georgia Hitchcock. She leaves behind her daughters, Natasha Furry with her husband, Charlie, of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Pamela Kitagawa with her husband, Stalley, of San Jose, California; her grandson, Tony Henderson with his wife, Lisa, of Battle Creek, Michigan; her great-granddaughter, Amie Henderson; and her three nephews, Brandon, Shane and Jared Kitagawa.
