Margaret Elizabeth Taylor

November 11, 1919 — August 11, 2014

Margaret Elizabeth Taylor, 94, of Cottonwood, Arizona, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 11, 2014, after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born on November 11, 1919 in Ontario, Canada to William and Cecily Mitchell. While living in California, working in early childhood education and raising her family, she attended Hope University part time at night for seventeen years to earn her degree and teaching credentials, which she then put to work for the Compton Unified School District. Her personal motto was that individuals can achieve anything if they are willing to persevere. Her great joy was in people and listening to them as they shared their personal life stories. A world traveler, artist, avid reader, educator, altar guild directress, mother and friend, she moved from California to Cottonwood at the age of 81 to begin a new life where earth and sky meet in a myriad of changing colors and patterns. Margaret leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Carolyn Sevier; a widowed daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Sevier; a cousin, Jean Price; beloved relatives, Larry and Kenna Joseph; and many who cherished Margaret as a relative, second mother and friend. A memorial service will be held in Cottonwood and a High Mass in Ontario, California. Inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery beside her previously deceased husband, John Allen Taylor. An online guestbook is available to sign at www.westcottfuneralhome.com
