Marie E. \u0027\u0027Mic\u0027\u0027 Smith, 80, of Clarkdale, died September 26. She was born July 14, 1924 in Independence, Kansas. A Navy \u0027\u0027Wave\u0027\u0027 in WWII, she served on active duty as a Seaman First Class from December 1944 and was honorably discharged in Dcember 1945. She was a clerical bookkeeper at the Naval Station on Kwailian Island. She was also a housewife and mother in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific. She was a member of the American Legion. Mrs. Smith enjoyed cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, travel and friendships. A loving wife an mother, she leaves her husband of 59 years (in October), Donald L. Smith; a son, Jeffrey L. Smith of Pullman, Washington; a daughter, Robbin M. Smith of Clarkdale; a brother Earle Davis of Panama City Beach, Florida; two sisters, Vernie Dillon of Palm Springs and Alice Starks of Kansa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. There are no public services planned. Donations in her memory may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood 86326. Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with these arrangements.
