Marie Page Wroot, long time resident of Sedona, and daughter of one of Arizona\u0027s pioneer families passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008 in her home in Sedona. She was born in Jerome on August 17, 1925 to James Edgar Page and Fay Kate(Lane)Page. She grew up on the family ranch in Page Springs. She attended the Cornville School-now known as Oak Creek School-and graduated the 8th grade in 1939. She went on to attend High School in Clarkdale; graduating in 1943. She continued her education graduating as a Registered Nurse from Saint Joseph\u0027s teaching hospital in Phoenix. After graduating, Marie met and married Wallace K. Wroot of Corona, California on March 30, 1947. Wallace was in the Air Force; so as an officer\u0027s wife, Marie traveled and lived in many places. They were married 47 years until his passing in Sedona in 1993. Marie worked as a volunteer for the Sedona Humane Society for many years. She was also very involved during the formative years of the Sedona Humane Society and the Paw Prints Thrift Store that benefits the Humane Society. She is survived by her daughter, Michele McKinstry; and three grandchildren, Dylan, Robby and Rene. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothy Steele, Julie Page Shipp; her brothers, Joseph Sidney Birch and Jack Page; her sister-in-law, Fanita Page; as well as, many nieces and nephews; and her many friends in Sedona.
