Martina Wise

Martina Wise, 93, of Clarkdale, died July 6, 2010, in Cottonwood. She was born September 26, 1916, in Victoria, Kansas, the daughter of Alexandria and Rosa Schumacher. Martina was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Louis Wise, who died in February 2000. Martina and Louis owned and operated businesses in both produce and seafood venues in California much of their lives. They lived and worked for many years in the Redding area of Northern California. Martina also was a professional seamstress and clothing designer. In Arizona, she and Louis worked as ombudsman for the elderly at several facilities in the Verde Valley area. She most recently volunteered at the Good-Buy Shoppe thrift store in Cottonwood. Gardening and grandchildren were two of her favorite activities. Martina is survived by her two daughters, Marta Inman and Starlett Stevens; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. "Grammie" will be lovingly missed by all of them. A private family memorial will be held. Anyone who knew Martina is asked to join her family in celebrating her life. If Angels truly walk among us, Martina is one.
