May Jane DVlieger, 88, of Cottonwood died April 30. She was born November 23, 1916 in Salem, Massachusetts. She retired as a trust officer from Crocker National bank in San Francisco, California. Mary was an active volunteer in the Verde Valley. Until her health prevented it, she volunteered at Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital in the hospice program, at the Cottonwood Library and was a legal advocate for senior citizens at the Verde Valley Manor to help with questions regarding living wills and medicare and social security benefits. Her hobbies included reading and the Ladies Book Clubs were a highlight in her early retirement days. She enjoyed a good political debate and was quick to let you know her party affiliation.(She was a democrat!). She leaves her sons, Marc DeVlieger (manager of Food City) of Cottonwood\u0027 and John DeVlieger of Tucson; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There are no public services. Donations in her memory may be made to the Cottonwood Libray, 100 S. 6th Street, Cottonwood 86326. Westcott Funeral Home assisted the family with these arrangements.
