Mary Ellen Fuller, 91, died May 23, 2014, in Cottonwood. She was born July 6, 1922, in Pecola, Oklahoma, the daughter of William Arthur and Mary Ethel Bretz. Mary was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She lived for many years on a ranch in Cornville where she raised her three daughters, and returned to the Verde Valley after being widowed in 1997. Mary was an excellent cook and a faithful visiting teacher for the church. Most of all, she had a great love for all children accepting foster grandchildren, children to which she served as a caregiver, and others as her own. Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Alfred William Fuller, by her daughter Wanda May Fuller, and by two grandchildren: Debra Sue Russell and William Wade Russell. She is survived by three daughters: Carolyn Sue Russell of Clarkdale, Mary Eleanore McCoy of Payson, and Alice Anne Standerfer of Litchfield Park. She is also survived by her son-in-law Leslie Dale Standerfer, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
