Mary Theresa Galloway of Sedona died peacefully in her home the morning of Wednesday, November 16th, in the company of her devoted friend and caregiver Suzanne Wilson, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was 87. Mary was born Mary Theresa Cronin on May 3rd, 1918 in Omaha, NE. Daughter of Jerry Cronin, born of Irish immigrants in Omaha, and Gustina Casus, born on her family's farm near Taos, NM, Mary was the fourth of seven children and the last surviving. Mary was a federal retiree, having worked in the Omaha offices of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers after WWII. There she met her husband, Louis Leroy Galloway (d. 1988) of New Orleans, LA. They were married November 22, 1946. She was mother to three children, Kathleen (d. 2003), James of Charlottesville, VA, and Michael of Sedona. Mary is also survived by her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Casey, Kelly and Michael. Mary was active throughout her life in social organizations and charitable causes. She served as President of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers Wives Club in Omaha, NE and was active in charitable work with the Alliance for the Mentally Ill and a number of Catholic charities. After raising their children in Omaha, NE and then in Longmeadow, MA, she and her husband Le moved to Sedona in 1971, where they built their retirement home, "La Casa Roja," in the Chapel Hill area. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement, seeing much of the U.S., Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, and The Middle East. Mary was a Charter Member and served as President of El Poco Diablo Ladies' Golf Club and Duplicate Bridge. She was known to her friends and family as an avid swimmer, golfer and bridge enthusiast. She worshipped at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband, Le, and daughter, Kathleen, in the family plot in Sedona Community Cemetery.
